The levels created in the public beta test of Little Big Planet will appear in the final game, Alex Evans, co-founder of Media Molecule Studios has confirmed. Thousands of players have had access to both playing and editing levels from the eagerly anticipated PS3 collaborative platform game releasing this month. And the result has been thousands of user-created levels that will now be available in the retail game too.

The move shows that user-generated content is now really becoming a force in gaming. Media Molecule are recognising that fan-created levels are at a good enough level that gamers will get a positive experience from trying out their levels too. And, possibly more importantly, by not deleting their work, they’re avoiding annoying the most rabid, inventive and prolific creators on the beta programme – thus ensuring they keep making more levels for the game, increasing its saleability.

Out 24 Oct | £45 | Little Big Planet (via 1-Up)
