There’s a ton of cool stuff tumbling out of the Electrolux Design Lab 08 contest, and although it didn’t scoop the top prize, this self-cooling bag has won our seal of approval.
Is converts the motion generated by carrying it into electrical power, before cooling whatever’s inside.
Designed by Apor Püspöki from Hungary, it’s designed as the perfect picnicking gadget. “The longer the walk, the cooler the refreshment at the end,” explains its maker.
“I wanted to make a point about the way urban life goes with increased energy consumption,” he added, explaining that the bag’s handle is connected to a dynamo, generating energy before cooling the insides using Peltier technology.
Three LED lights on the outside of the bag show how cool it is, while the insides can hold up to three litres.
