Lunchtime LowdownIt’s Friday, it’s 12.30 and that means it’s time to pull up a pew, grab yourself some grub and digest the morning’s biggest gadget stories. And what a lot of tech treats we have for you today…

First and foremost, Apple has confirmed months of rumour and speculation by announcing that next Tuesday “the spotlight turns to notebooks” – which means we’re finally getting those metal MacBooks we’ve been waiting for. And who knows, maybe something else too? New MacBook Pros? Tablets? Ultra-portables? We can’t wait.

News also reaches us that Orange has had enough of the BlackBerry Bold and its blasted bugginess, and has decided to pull the handset altogether, leaving Vodafone as the sole UK supplier. The Bold won’t be back until RIM sorts the software, apparently.

Lastly, music legend Brian Eno has dropped a kick-ass iPhone app in our laps. Bloom is “part instrument, part composition and part artwork” according to Eno, and allows you to make music by tapping the iPhone’s touchscreen. Well worth a go if you’ve got £2.39 burning a hole in your pocket.
