PlayDigital: Now serving up all four major labels!Looking for an alternative to iTunes, but don’t fancy the DRM-laden tracks from services like Nokia’s Comes With Music? You’re in luck! Play.com just announced it’s signed all four major record companies to its DRM-free download service.

Tracks and albums from EMI, Sony BMG, Warner Music and Universal Music will now contribute to PlayDigital’s library of 3 million songs, which are all free from DRM, so you can play them on any device without worrying about licences.

The addition of Sony BMG, Warner Music and Universal Music puts Play ahead of HMV and Tesco in offering the complete compliment of major record labels.

Wendy Snowdon, Head of PlayDigital explained: “It was only a matter of time before the other three major labels came onboard and we now have an offer to rival that of iTunes, yet in a format that gives the consumer choice and at a more appealing price.”

Play’s pricing is eye-wideningly cheap too. Top 100 tracks cost from 65p each, compared to 79p on iTunes, while albums cost £4.99. That’s £1 cheaper than iTunes.
