Downloading is dead, long live live music. Nokia might have their swanky ‘unlimited music downloads’ but Yamaha have proper(ish) instruments on their handsets. The “Band in my Pocket” range of concept phones, revealed at CEATEC in Japan, lets you clip your choice of instrument direct to your handset and play.
Take your pick from the trumpet, harmonica, bass, flute or a classic old-school synth, snap into place and you’re instantly the most annoying person in the pub/bus/tube/planet.
Other Yamaha CEATEC 2008 crrazy concepts included a clamshell piano-style keyboard; drumstick shaped mobile and even a slide out set of guitar strings.
We love it, but are praying to the Tech Gods they all come with compulsory headphones.
