Nico ObamaIt’s been blamed for a teen crime spree but Grand Theft Auto could also be blamed for getting Obama into the White House. Gamepolitics has revealed how several high profile games industry figures intend to vote.

By searching public campaign donor records, they’ve found out that Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar games and one of the minds behind the Grand Theft Auto series gave £2,600 to the Obama Democrat campaign. So did John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts (also £2,600), George Lucas (nearly £19,000) and Gabe “Half-Life” Newell of Valve (£1,400 to Dodd).

On the dark side? Shockingly, it’s cuddly Will Wright (Spore/The Sims) who gave £1,700 to McCain (and another £1,300 previously to Giuliani. His games may back Darwinian natural selection and gay coupling. But apparently his politics don’t.

In all, of the names the site found it was 13 Democratic donors versus three Republican. Like Hollywood, it appears the game industry is a liberal media conspiracy, then.
