PocketSurferMeet the PocketSurfer. It’s a neat handheld device, serving up full web pages at lightening speeds. But the story here isn’t its swift surfing, but the price. How cheap? A one-off £60 payment. For unlimited free internet. For life.

Yes, you read that right. One £60 dent in your bank account, and you’ll never pay another penny for internet use.

Manufacturer Datawind says there’s no usage cap, no “acceptable use policy” and no chance of you being billed later on. Of course, you still need to buy a PocketSurfer, but at £199, it’s hardly an expensive route to all-you-can-eat internet.

The firm has also unveiled new roaming charges, billing you for internet use by the minute rather than the megabyte. And it’s cheap. 5p per minute across the whole of Europe and America. Compare that to the normal cost of 25p per minute, and you’re laughing.

And best of all, the device runs proper web pages. Everything from HTML and graphics to Java-Script, Ajax and Frames. It’ll even run flash, although it’s not suited to heavy video or audio.

We reckon it’s a bargain. If you’re looking for quick internet access without a sting in the wallet, PocketSurfer’s definitely worth a look.

does anyone know if the £60 unlimited for life option, is truly unlimited – ie. as many hours as you want per month, or is it a lifetime of 20 hours per month, as included in the first year of use.

a mail to support@pocketsurfer.co.uk asking this is returned with an error that the recipients mailbox is full! hmmm!
