Apple doesn’t have exclusive rights to the minimalist desktop PC, you know! Sony just slipped us details of the new Vaio JS1, an all-in-one that’s distinctly iMac-like!
Inside is a 20.1 inch wide screen, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of memory and 500GB of hard disk space. There’s also ultra-quick N-standard Wi-Fi, a DVD writer and Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed.
But the JS1 is more than a bundle of impressive specs. Its sleek design also hides Dolby Home Theatre technology, with speakers creating virtual surround sound straight out of the box.
Sony’s Sound Reality signal processor chip is also built in, making mincemeat of movie sound tracks and MP3s. The PC can also play back Super Audio CDs, so it’s a real audiophile’s PC.
Just like the iMac, there’s a built in webcam too, with Sony’s Motion Eye camera peeping out of the front. The design clearly owes a lot to Apple, especially that slinky keyboard. But we think it’s also quite different. It definitely has Sony’s stamp on it.
Take a look at the pictures. We think it’s drop dead gorgeous.
What do you think? Better than an iMac? Let us know in the comments section below.
