Apple’s new iPhone software is currently in testing with developers before being released to the public, but already we’re hearing of new features, including an update to the App Store.
Under iPhone software version 2.2, there’s a tweaked version of the handset’s Safari browser, as well as refinements to its App marketplace.
Changes include larger buttons under the “category” listing, new options to “report a problem” with an app, and the shifting of the current store’s “tell a friend” function.
They’re minor adjustments, and since the enlarged category buttons don’t currently work, clearly still a work-in-progress.
However, it’s clear Apple’s far from finished with the App Store. The company has already changed the way user reviews are handled, requiring a purchase or download to be made before judgement can be passed.
Changes have also been made to the way updated applications are promoted. Previously, Apple treated the first release date as an App’s sole birthday. Since then it’s changed its behaviour, so updated apps now appear as new ones would, highlighting their new features, and encouraging more sales.
