human airbagBoffins in Japan have unveiled this device aimed at their elderly population, one of the fastest growing on the globe with 22% being over the age of 65, this wearable airbag will have the clumsy queueing up for these body balloons too.

Designed by the President of Japanese firm Prop the self-inflating fall absorber was created for sufferers of epilepsy for protection in the event of an episode but could well be an accessory with appeal for a wider audience.

Deploying in an incredible 0.1 second the airbags use a sensor to inflate the bags to protect the neck and torso from impact.

We can’t help but wonder if the device also assists to immediately rectify the users horizontal position and bounce them back to an upright stance.
