Android’s nabbing headlines left and right, and now Sling Media is preparing to port its TV-streaming software to Google phones too. TV on the T-Mobile G1? Sling says it’s working on it.
Stuart Collingwood, Sling Media’s vice president for Europe initially gave us the expected no comment when we asked about Android, before letting slip that “We’re looking at it closely, and we’ll develop in time for anything we can”, noting that it the Google OS is going to be hugely popular.
He didn’t join the dots between the two explicitly, but pointed out that Google’s HQ in Mountain View, California is just down the road from Sling’s. That’s a big enough hint for us.
We also quizzed Collingwood on Sling Player for the iPhone (which we’ve already heard is in development), but he remained coy, saying “we’re asked day in and day out,” confirming only that Sling is working hard to “get it finished” – in the meantime, an official release date remains lost in the ether.
