Call it what you will: The HTC Dream, the T-Mobile G1. Either way, the first Android phone has leaked online, and looks every inch the iPhone batterer. Come and take a peep.
Due to launch officially at T-Mobile’s press conference this afternoon, the G1 is the first ever Android phone. Running Google’s all-new mobile OS, it’s a 3G handset with more bells and whistles than a morris dancer, and enough raw horsepower to put a shiver down Steve Jobs’ spine.
Inside there’s a 3.1 megapixel camera, GPS and a 4.6 inch screen. Of course, there’s also a slide out keyboard too.
It’ll run YouTube straight out of the box, play nicely with Gmail, and packs an accelerometer for movement-sensing and screen-rotation too.
Strangely, we’re hearing the phone won’t be sold at stores outside a 2-5 mile radius of T-Mobile’s 3G network in an attempt to guarantee good service.
What’s more, just like the iPhone, it seems the G1 won’t be able to shoot video and will come lacking stereo Bluetooth.
T-Mobile’s press conference is due to kick off at 3:30 UK time. Keep it here for updates as soon as we get them.
