We’ve just received word that the world’s first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1 will be available free when it hits Britain in November. Of course, you’ll need to take out a contract, but the handset itself will be yours absolutely gratis!
T-Mobile says the G1 will be available free on its contracts worth £40 per month or over. It’ll include unlimited mobile internet browsing too, although there’s no word on whether the network will bundle Wi-Fi minutes to, for use within its hotspots.
The pricing makes the G1 slightly cheaper than the iPhone, which is only available free on tariffs costing £45 and upwards per month. However, O2 includes free and unlimited access to The Cloud hotspots and BT Openzone Wi-Fi with the iPhone.
We’re still waiting to hear prices for the G1 on tariffs below £40 a month, as well as on Pay As You Go. Keep it here for more as we hear it.
