Nokia’s working on ultra-smart predictive trafficThe battle to get you from A to B just stepped up a gear, with Nokia ripping the covers off its next-gen traffic prediction service.

It’s a little like TomTom’s HD Traffic service, which uses cell phone data from Vodafone to plot movements along roads for accurate real-time traffic info.

Except Nokia’s service uses GPS devices to predict traffic trouble spots easily, and even hooks up to your phone’s calendar and address book to tell if there are snarl ups on the way to any appointments you’ve got booked.

Dubbed Traffic Works, it’s a real glimpse of Nokia’s futuristic plans. Just don’t expect it to launch this year, Nokia says it’s still more than a few months away from launch.
