Nokia’s awesome Point and Find service isn’t just coming soon - it’s coming to the UK first, letting mobile phones recognise objects, logos and posters to pull information about them straight from the web.
Our buddies at NokNok just had a chat with a Nokia insider, who says the service will hit the UK and America first, and will debut on the N95.
Recognising movie posters will be top of Nokia’s agenda, since it demonstrates the power of Point and Find. Snap a shot of a movie poster, and it’ll serve up film times near you (using GPS to pin down your location), let you book tickets direct from the phone, and even view a trailer.
Nokia already has lots of posters tagged and ready to go. The demos Nokia has given so far show films due to launch in November. Is that a clue? All the Finnish mobile firm will say so far is that it’ll launch “soon”. Frankly, we can’t wait.
