iPhone cases rarely perform a useful function, other than guarding against scratches, but Griffin’s new Clarifi case packs a built-in macro lens to dramatically improve the Apple phone’s camera.
Slide the lens into position, and it’ll instantly improve close-up shots. It works particularly well with text, showing up fine details for easily readable photos.
It means the iPhone can quickly snap a business card, or contact details while out and about, and is just itching for an enterprising developer to write some recognition software.
Without Griffin’s Clarifi case, the iPhone needs a space of 18 inches to focus, but that drops to just four inches with the lens in place.
Of course, you can slide the lens out of the way too, to take normal shots, and the polycarbonate case includes cut-outs for headphones, volume keys, power switch and the dock connector.
