Normally used for reconnaissance missions and bombing sorties, UAVs’ (unmanned aerial vehicles) vast internal technology has been unleashed for more peaceful pursuits in the shape of this delivery service in rural Africa.
The South African National Health Laboratory Service teamed up with Denel Dynamics to produce prototypes of aircraft that could deliver medicines by either an air-drop or by landing and then returning to base.
In addition to this crucial task, the prototypes are also tasked with the safe collection of sample tests for return to the lab, running all of these errands with a little help from their on-board GPS systems.
