Yesterday’s rumour rumblings about an impending Xbox 360 price drop have been proved correct: Microsoft has just announced that, from this Friday, it’ll be slashing pounds off all three of its console packages.
That means the entry-level Arcade model will retail for around £129.99, the Premium (with 60GB hard drive and wireless controller) for £169.99 and the top of the range Elite (with 120GB hard drive and wireless controller) for £229.99.
With Nintendo’s Wii still selling (and selling well) at its original price of £179.99, this makes the Xbox 360 the cheapest next-gen console by £50 – a pretty big margin in the ever competitive gaming hardware market. The other player, the Sony PS3, sells for around £279.99.
