iPod Touch 2.1 Sync ErrorIf like us you jumped on the upgrade bandwagon after last night’s iTunes 8 and iPod Touch 2.1 software updates, you’ll be properly miffed at the result. An endless sync festival greeted us this morning with our iPod Touch stuck in a permanent syncing rotating, throwing up an unknown error.

Judging by the Apple Support Forum, we definitely weren’t the only ones. iPod Touch 2.1 users have been wasting time checking for corrupt files, changing settings and tearing hair out trying to make the new iPod Touch 2.1 software upgrade work. The solution though, it seems, is much simpler (just not very obvious). iPod Touch 2.1 users, step forward.

  1. Unplug your iPod Touch and switch it off (hold down the power button until the red “slide to power off” slider appears at the top of the screen, then slide to power off)
  2. Quit iTunes
  3. Relaunch iTunes
  4. Plug in your iPod Touch (it’ll turn on automagically when you plug it in)
  5. It should sync normally

Have you had any more trouble with this? Or with the new software upgrades? Let us know in the comments below.

I just upgraded to software version 3.1 on the iTouch and now, no matter what solution I’ve tried…I continue getting this message when I try to sync: “The iPod…cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (13019).” What ticks me off is that I paid money for this stupid upgrade and now I can’t even listen to my music!

For people still experiencing problems with this, I found this thread at the Apple support forums: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2046768&tstart=0

Also, what I just tried (after reading that thread) was to Un-select “Automatically fill free space with songs” and then sync. It worked fine. Then I Re-selected that option and synced and it worked fine again! So in the end I get what I wanted, albeit with a couple extra steps.

Good luck to anyone getting this error!
