A brand new Microsoft Zune just showed up on American retailer Fry’s website, complete with all-new features. And no, they don’t include “being available outside America.”
What is in store are new wireless abilities. According to the store’s listing, the new Zune can access wireless hotspots to tap into “Channels,” which deliver personalised playlists to the music player over the air. Sounds like personalised internet radio to us.
There are also new games included with the player, as well as the ability to tag songs heard on FM radio, so they can be bought through the Zune Marketplace at a later date.
The whole package comes in a new blue skin, and with 8GB of internal memory.
All very handy indeed, but will it be enough to fend off competition from Apple’s new product, due to be unveiled tomorrow? Only time will tell.
