UPDATE: OK, so we know these spy shots are fake, but we’ve just received word from a top UK accessory manufacturer that Apple will indeed be launching new iPods tomorrow, for which there are already accessories waiting in the wings. Read more here.
The web’s gossip mongers have hit fever pitch ahead of Apple’s special event tomorrow. These latest spy shots claim to show the new iPod nano in all its elongated glory, but there’s something about them we just don’t trust.
Sure, they show the new nano in its Apple-branded packaging, and yes, it appears to match the descriptions of Kevin Rose and others.
But wait. That’s an old-style ‘squeeze to release’ USB cable. Apple hasn’t used those for almost a year, and as Gizmodo points out, the distances between the clickwheel and edge of the metal shell is different on each picture.
We’re calling ‘Photoshop’ on these, and while they probably come close to the real thing, they certainly weren’t leaked from within Apple itself.
To see the latest from Apple’s unveiling yourself, check back at 6pm tomorrow, when we’ll have live coverage from the special event.
