We’re almost ready to unbox our new arrival later this month, Spykee WiFi is one of the hottest robot launches of the year, and the makers Mecanno want you to fall in love with the entire family too.
Coming up at the end of October the Spykee range will be joined by a pair by the name of Cell and Vox, there are of course certain similarities in aesthetics and stature but their capabilities and personalities differ enough for your credit card to worry.
Spykee Vox (on the left) is a voice activated robot, give it directions to follow and it’ll move about avoiding obstacles along the way also reacting to your chat with facial expressions on his LED face and a series of other moves, sounds and light effects.
Dock your iPod and it’ll play tunes through his on-board speakers and bust a groove, but the best bit is his infra-red capability, yes this fella can be programmed to turn on the TV, DVD and other entertainment equipment – A couch potatoes perfect pal.
Perhaps Cell holds more appeal however, this chap takes is remote controlled by the Bluetooth on your mobile so you can move Cell around and also takes snaps from his in-head camera to be beam right back to your blower.
Double yours up as a Bluetooth handsfree unit so visitors think your robot obsession has led you to talk to your mechanical friends or just sict back with your iPod in place and select tracks via your phone and have him play them through the speakers.
You’re going to have to make a choice soon folk, our advice is rubbish, as we believe there to be a need for all three.
Be warned though, each one is a self build, okay its not engineering MBA level but just because you managed an IKEA wardrobe the other weekend don’t expect it to be a breeze.
Due October | Vox £139.99 | Cell £159.99
