Canon about to reveal EOS 5D II?

Canon, with this silhouette you are really teasing usA mere week after it pulled the wraps off its new entry-level EOS 50D digital SLR, Canon looks set to launch a revamped version of the high-end EOS 5D called (yep, you guessed it) the EOS 5D Mark II!

The firm has been running a teaser ad on its website, showing the Moon with the outline of a digital SLR – one that looks very much like the original 5D – just visible in front of it. Next to this is the legend “Destined Evolution”, which certainly suggests some form of evolved camera rather than a totally new model. But aside from that, there’s not much evidence that this is a new 5D rather than, say, an EOS 7D. We keep our peepers peeled and let you know if anything else emerges in the next few days – with Berlin’s Photokina camera show about to kick off, things are bound to get interesting…
