Well they’ll certainly have had a fair shock as they wandered by Liverpools Concourse building this morning catching sight of this three storey, 37 ton creepy crawly.
Creators of the impressive arachnid are French outfit “La Machine” who are going to set the mechanical machine in motion on Friday and have “La Princess” extend its Crouch beating ten-foot legs and come alive.
This display of street theatre starts with the troupe dressed as scientists arriving to investigate the invader before removing it from the building with a couple of cranes and taking it to their lab in the city centre.
It’ll be travelling on its own six legs from location to location at top speeds of 2mph before the show ends Sunday and it disappears down the Mersey Tunnel.
It’ll be put through a series of “experiments” at the lab stage with fire, water and artificial snow used to add a bit of wow the the occassion.
We hear this impressive exhibit cost a cool £1.8 million, those Liverpudlians are certainly taking their City of Culture year very seriously.
