New iTunes features leaked?

September 4th, 2008

Apple iTunesDigg founder Kevin Rose is building a reputation as a well informed Apple tipster. After unveiling these shots of the rumoured new iPod nano, he’s claimed knowledge of new iTunes features too.

iTunes 8 is widely expected to launch at Apple’s special event next week, but until now it’s been a mystery as to what it’ll include.

According to Rose a new source as come forward to tell him iTunes 8 will include a new called Genius, which builds intelligent playlists of songs that fit well together.

The Genius feature is also reported to recommend music from the iTunes store that isn’t currently in your library.

So far, so clever. But Rose also says iTunes 8 will let you browse albums and artists visually, presenting cover art in a grid, building on Apple’s cover flow technology.

Rose also claims the next-generation iTunes will include TV shows in HD quality.

Truth? Wishful thinking? We’ll bring you everything form Apple’s special event next Tuesday.
