Like the brilliant Apple iPod fridge, Gorenje is full of bright ideas for our future homes. Another being self contained kitchen appliances that don’t necessarily need to be in the kitchen. The spare room could become another floating food prep place for example.
Qube is a complete collection of cooking appliances including a hinged grill the folds out from the wall, a fridge that looks like a chest of drawers and this freestanding oven. Aeach one hides the usual pipes and plumbing inside a slender column, so as long as there’s a plug socket, you can just plonk it down and start cooking without any need to install it. The advantage is that any room can instantly become an impromptu kitchen.
This picture I obviously a render, but a whole set of Qube kitchen appliances has been on show at IFA, while the Slovenian appliance manufacturer decides whether to press them into production. In the meantime, the iPod fridge will be hitting shops early in the new year for around €1,200.
