Tethering a laptop to a phone is a quick and simple way to get your computer on the internet, and now it seems Apple’s bringing the technology to the iPhone.
According to one customer, who complained to Apple that he couldn’t hook his laptop up to the net via the iPhone, Steve Jobs replied in person, stating that the company was working with AT&T to make it a reality.
The authenticity of Jobs’ reply is debatable, however, Canadian iPhone carrier Rogers just announced that it would allow customers to tether their laptops through the handset, hinting that an official solution could be coming from Apple soon.
The latest developments follow the removal of an app called NetShare from the iTunes App Store, which allowed users to tether their laptop to the iPhone’s mobile network using Wi-Fi.
