This weekend two dozen colleges from across Asia will gather with their robotic creations at the Robocon convention and try the ancient art of “Dahi Handi”.
The phrase, meaning to “take butter from a pot up high” will see the teams collaborative robot troupes working together to try and form a pyramid to reach inside the pot, the first to retreive three cubes will win.
Each year the objectives set down by the organisers alter, previous tasks have been to build robotic football and baseball teams but the level of difficulty of this years challenge shows the pace of change in the robotics field has accelerated rapidly.
With the robots each a fairly formidable four feet in height the result from any misfooting of one whilst in the air would be a pretty sizeable mangled mess of electrical components - We should either way have some interesting pictures after the weekend.
