LCD projectors have long been considered slightly lacking in contrast, but that’s all set to change when Epson launches the EH-TW5000 in October - this mean-looking mother delivers the best black levels ever seen on a 3LCD projector.
Epson rates its dynamic contrast ratio at a stonking 75,000:1. While we wouldn’t normally hold much truck with such lofty claims, having seen the TW5000 face off against a gaggle of rivals at Epson’s Japanese HQ, we can attest it’s an impressive performer, chucking super-clean whites and deep, dark blacks wall-wards - not to mention sharp 1920 x 1080 detail.
It’s a high-end model kitted out for professional calibration, and it comes with HQV image processing to cut down noise and increase detail, plus frame interpolation to eliminate judder and smooth out motion.
Out October | £2,399 | Epson
