Thin is in, and Sony’s just treated our eyes to a glimpse of its latest televisual wunderkind. Meet the Bravia ZX1 – Sony’s 9.9mm thick LCD TV.
It’s all done by shifting LED backlighting from behind the screen to the side of the display. The result is a telly so thin it’ll fit under a door.
And the best news? It’s not a prototype. You’ll be able to bag one in December, when Europe gets the screen at the same time as Japan.
Thinner than a Blu-Ray disc case, the ZX1 comes close to the narrowness of Sony’s other super-thin gogglebox, the OLED-packed XEL-1. Of course, since this is standard LED tech with a twist, it’ll be much less expensive.
Out December | £TBC | Sony
