Want surround sound but can’t be bothered setting up loads of speakers and hiding a ghastly mass of cabling? Philips feels your pain, brother/sister - and the CinemaOne is the medicine!
This dinky pod-like product (which comes in a box “the size of a football” according to one Philips exec), combines a DVD/CD player with four speaker drivers, a subwoofer and an iPod dock.
The idea is that you can whack this down with a minimum of fuss and enjoy a movie - complete with virtual surround sound. Or listen to some songs off your iPod, obviously.
While it’s not going to replace your super-duper 8,000 Watt 5.1 setup, it could do a decent job in the bedroom or study. Sadly we don’t have a price yet.
Out January 2009 | £TBC | Philips
