Gamers attempting to make a fortune from their LittleBigPlanet creations needn’t fear someone stealing their moneymaking ideas. It turns out you’ll be granted copyright of your creations.
Asked by Eurogamer if there will be and kind of rights management in the game, Media Molecule’s Alex Evans said “Yeah, we have a very simple system that we call ‘copyright’ in the game, which isn’t copyright in the legal sense.”
Confused? We were too, but Evans explains: “You can basically dictate the distribution rights on any object you create. If you put something in your level as a collectable item, people can collect it.”
Levels will be affected too. After creating them you’ll be able to decide whether you want to restrict access to its design, keeping pesky idea-stealing trespassers out, or share it with the world.
“People can control who comes into the level, both by how hard it is and by giving away keys,” Evans said. “But you can also choose whether to copyright that object.”
