Buttons? Pah! The Hidden Radio doesn’t have a single one. Instead, you twist to tune and lift or push to change the volume. A control panel would just ruin those clean lines.
Australian designer John Van Den Nieuwenhuizen came up this achingly minimal design as an antidote to all the overly complicated gadgets out there. The cap pushes right down when not in use, so it looks just like a very simple ornament and it gets louder as you lift it to reveal more of the speaker. Turning it tunes the radio and the LED light on the front – the only indication that this is a piece of electronic equipment – brightens or dims with the signal strength.
