After last week’s leak, we pretty much knew all there is to know about the Canon EOS 50D, but now it’s official: Canon’s all-new 15 megapixel SLR is here.
It’s a tasty little camera too. 15.1 megapixels mean whopping great images and masses of detail, while its new DIGIC 4 image processor keeps things crisp, clean and speedy.
Shooting in low light is also easier, thanks to a maximum ISO of 12,800. Around the back there’s a 3 inch screen, with live view technology so there’s no need to squint through the viewfinder.
Inside there’s face detection to help out the existing autofocus, and a HDMI connector for hooking up to big screen TVs.
As you’d expect, the price tag for all this photographic luxury is fairly serious. You’re looking at £1,200 for the body alone, and £1,500 for a body and lens kit. Credit crunch? What credit crunch?
