It’s been a while since Nokia last blessed our eyes with a slider this slick. Make no mistake, it’s a well specced phone too, but just look at that carbon fibre shell!
Dubbed the Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte, it’s crafted from carbon fibre, titanium, polished glass and stainless steel. The result is a tough little telephone that also looks the business.
The software inside has had a tweak too, with exclusive wallpapers and sound effects bundled as part of the package. The phone also changes its backgrounds to suit different times of the day.
There’s an accelerometer inside too, so the 8800 can tell when it’s being tapped and show the time on its screen. This ‘tap-for-time’ feature also showed up in the 6600 Fold. There’s a video of it in action here.
Nokia is also using the accelerometer to put the handset into Silent mode when it’s turned screen-side down.
All this, and 3G connection, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a whopping 4GB of built in memory.
There are also dedicated accessories, including a Bluetooth headset with touch-sensitive volume controls, a special desk stand and leather carrying case.
