The saga of MobileMe continues. Not only has Steve Jobs confirmed Apple made a mistake in launching it at the same time as the iPhone 3G, but now further service outages have forced the company to issue 60 days free access to disgruntled customers.
The latest freebie is on top of the 30 days dished out by the Mac-maker by way of an apology last month.
In an e-mail to MobileMe users this morning, Apple said: “We have already made many improvements to MobileMe, but we still have many more to make. To recognize our users’ patience, we are giving every MobileMe subscriber as of today a free 60 day extension… We know that MobileMe’s launch has not been our finest hour, and we truly appreciate your patience as we turn this around.”
It’s unlike Apple to admit to its failings, let alone give its products away for free, so we know the situation’s bad. How long will it rumble on for? Only Jobs and Co know the answer to that one.
