Producing a “swarm” effect in robotics or getting multiple machines to work with each other does not come cheap, until this team from Southampton found a way of making them for just £25 per machine.
The scientists have produced a swarm of 25 robots constructed with the mechanism that causes mobile handsets to vibrate.
The machines can act autonomously for up to two hours and are perfect or research facilities to carry out experiments.
