The mass produced water powered hydrogen fuel cell car just became a commercial reality with the launch of H2Go. But the oil companies needn’t panic just yet as the car is rather small – being a remote control toy from PopCo Entertainment.
H2Go is the result of a collaboration between the toy giant and Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies, a company with a somewhat broader vision of seeking an alternative to our dependence on fossil fuels for consumer products, transport and aerospace. H2Go uses a scaled down fuel cell under its plastic bonnet, allowing it to ditch batteries in favour of sunlight and pure water. Its recharging base is fitted with a solar panel to help drive the electrolysis that enables the car to recharge in less than four minutes. H2Go even has an aerodynamic body thanks to designer Professor Luigi Colani. If PopCo and the boffins at Horizon can just scale this car up a bit, we might all be commuting to work on a glass of water.
