The ECS G10IL may not have a cute or even vaguely pronounceable name but what it lacks in vowel sounds it more than makes up for in connectivity, offering something that Eee PC owners can only dream of at the moment: built in 3G.
Laptop Mag managed to get an early sample to play with and decided to put its mobile broadband through its paces. It comes packing Ericsson’s F3507g WMC 1.0 Data Modem which supports high speed UMTS connections, so you should get pretty good speeds wherever you’ve got mobile coverage.
Setup was simply a matter of removing the battery, slipping in a 3G enabled SIM card and then firing up the connection manager software. Once online, most sites loaded within ten to 20 seconds and it was even possible listen to streaming music while checking Gmail.
