Nulla chainless bicyleThe chain itself is the weakest link in bike design, so the chainless Nulla has a distinct advantage and its sleek, futuristic lines could make it a future fashion icon.

Nulla means ‘nothing’ in Italian and its designer, Bradford Waugh, was determined the strip his bicycle down to virtually nothing to achieve the simplest machine possible.

By designing away the chain, he’s come up with a radically new kind of bike that’s less prone to mechanical failure, weighs much less and even looks better too. We could all be riding one of these when the oil runs out.

I wonder how good it actually drives…

    Wow, what a craze.

It was never ever made and nobody has ever ridden one, because the design (if you can call it a design) is utterly unsafe and totally impractical.

Bradford Waugh needs to take a course in structural engineering, or maybe just plain old physics.

jeah, i was laughin all along the description after i saw the image. It’s another example of a technical product “designed” by an artist- looks cool but would be crap in performing its duty.
the “retrenchment” of spokes and a chain results in much more complex mechanix due to extreme ratio. Or did he even plan to include both a motor/generator?
beams carrying large momentums like this one aren’t very lightweight construction, neither.
So if you want to design a bicycle, better leave technics be :-D and cooperate with someone who knows what he does..
