Enterprising PS3 hackers have convinced Sony’s console to run Windows Vista, effectively turning the game machine into a PC. A very slow PC.
See, while the PS3 is more than capable of running Linux, it fares less well with Vista. To get the set-up running, the PS3 enthusiasts had to run Vista under emulation, meaning it took almost 25 minutes to boot.
Clicking on the Start menu was no fun either, since it took five and a half minutes to spring into action.
We’ve included a video of the PS3 struggling with Vista below, although it’s really not pretty.
