The little Smart cars with their cheeky sideways parking already enjoy tax relief and exemption from congestion and duty charges and very soon, they won’t even need petrol! On trial in London right now is the ‘ed’, which can juice up from any 3-pin socket.
You’ll have seen Smart cars like this darting around London streets already, but the nippy fourtwo and sporty Brabus petrol models are being joined by an electric version. It must be the oil company’s worst fear, a practical car that creates no CO2 fumes or exhaust that runs purely on electricity. It can reach 30mph in just 6.5 seconds and tops out at 60mph, but it’s really about the cost cutting with its tax dodging credentials and 80% slash in energy bills. The Smart car just got a whole lot cleverer.
