Sony’s handheld console might not have many unique games, but that’s going to change this year, as the firm brings more must-play titles to the PSP.
John Koller, director of hardware marketing at Sony, told MTV Multiplayer that existing PSP games were “mostly ports” of games already available on other systems.
But that’s due to change. He added this year “we’re going to see a lot of very large franchise games come from third-parties.”
The push for unique games and more impressive ports will start at the end of 2008, and carry on into 2009. According to Koller, they’re “going to be a bit of a surprise.” He reckons gamers will be saying: “Wow, that’s coming to PSP?”
We’re inclined to be sceptical, but since Sony’s seeing huge success from the PSP, despite its age, there’s every chance developers are paying it more attention.
