We’ve already told you how the PlayStation 3 was closing the gap on Wii. Now Sony has revealed that the PS3 has doubled its sales from this time last year, shifting an impressive 1.56 million PS3s during April-June 2008.
This time last year the Blu-Ray toting console had shifted around 700,000 units, and with more than double the sales of last year things are looking good for SCE president Kaz Hirai, who earlier said PS3 sales will exceed both PSone and PS2.
Software sales were also up by 18.1 million, no doubt helped by the likes of Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid. It’s looking good for Sony, despite Nintendo dominating the UK’s game chart.
