We love De’Longhi’s hilariously over-designed breakfast gadgets, but the Argento toaster –the one that looks like a prop from a 50s sci-fi B-movie - is a fond favourite. It even has dual toasting controls for your co-pilot.
De’Longhi’s distinctive Icona and Metropolis designs hark back to the distinctive 1950s Italian style – an era when bold curves and shiny chrome were standard issue.
The Italian designers have had just as much fun with the Argento range and the silver toaster pictured here, although there’s something very scientific about its dials and levers that makes it look like a prop from Flash Gordon’s space rocket. The dual controls allow another member of the household to toast their own slices, while you burn yours independently.
