Apple’s MacBook laptops have been long overdue for a refresh, and now the latest rumours suggest they’ll get a radical new design, complete with slinky aluminium shells and glass trackpads.
According to Computerworld, the new design will be thinner too, and while there’s still no sign of a multi-touch screen, the new computers will boast Apple’s multi-touch trackpad technology, as found in new MacBook Pros and the MacBook Air.
From the outside, the new designs reportedly look slicker than ever, as the shell is made from a single piece of aluminium.
If true, it echoes the design of the MacBook Air, which challenges owners to find a single seam in its ultra-smooth enclosure.
But what mystifies us is the need for a glass trackpad. Is Apple simply showing off? Does it plan to light up the pad? Who knows. Word is they’ll be released in late September, so keep it here for more updates as we get them.
