Rumours of a new widescreen Nintendo DS and funky new Wii colours can be put to bed for now, as Ninty says it wants to concentrate on getting current models into new hands.
Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, Cammie Dunaway told IGN there are no plans for DS redesign.
“What we’re focused on right now for DS is just getting it into the hands of more people.”
And who can blame them?
“When a piece of hardware that’s been out as long as DS is able to still grow in the double digits, it suggests there’s a lot of untapped market demand, particularly among new audiences,” Dunaway explained.
As for rumours of new multi-coloured cases for the Wii, the Nintendo bigwig said “We’re not thinking about further colours at this point.” Spoilsports.
