Jake Dyson is a chip off the old block and while his dad was reinventing the vacuum cleaner, young Jake was coming up with an automated uplight that can put on a robotic lightshow.
Motorlight even looks a little like the colourful Dyson vacuum cleaners in its range of cheerful finishes – red, silver, blue, black and white – with the mechanics that make it work clearly visible. It revolves on its axis and twists at the circular joint while widening and narrowing its beam to cast a constantly changing light anywhere you like. You can program it yourself and leave it to dance or control it remotely. Its production is currently limited to batches of 500 so the cost is still rather high, but we think Jake has inherited his fathers genius and it took a few years for the vacuum cleaner idea to take off.
