We’ve been getting hyped over the BlackBerry Thunder for months, so why all the fuss? Read our list to see why we’re waiting for the Big B to drop its first touchscreen superphone on us. All others can wait. This is the one we’ve been waiting for.
1. Screen supreme
Let’s face it, it’s all about the screen and if the rumors are true, the BlackBerry Thunder will trump everyone – yes, even the iPhone 3G – with a dazzling 320×480 hi-rez touch screen.
2. Strictly business
RIM has been taking care of business for years, while Apple is only just introducing work tools and push e-mail on the iPhone 3G. Those who have already invested in BlackBerry are likely to stick with it for a little while longer. Corporate types should rejoice, as in the next few months you could be getting hold of a Thunder absolutely free!
3. Haptic heaven
BlackBerry Thunder’s cutting edge haptic technology lets you know when you’ve hit one of the soft buttons through force feedback. This’ll take a lot of the guesswork out of typing on the smooth touch screen and give Thunder another edge over the iPhone 3G.
4. Contract killer
Unlike Apple’s rigid exclusivity deal with O2 in the UK and AT&T in the US, BlackBerries are also available on T-Mobile and 13 other carriers in CDMA versions, so you can choose your own contract.
5. Keyboard clever
iPhone 3G’s typewriter-style and intuitive text input are pretty damn good, but Thunder offers more with a Querty keyboard in landscape mode that flips to BlackBerry’s own SureType system (where the characters double up on each key) in portrait. It’s the best of both worlds.
