Sony Vaio ZSony was apparently a bit snooty about the small size, low cost laptop market at first, but now it’s had a change of heart and is apparently readying its own range to hit the market before Christmas.

Sony is no stranger to little laptops – its Vaio Z, for example (pictured) packs a 13in screen into a portable that measures just 1.3in thick. Low cost, on the other hand, is not something Sony is quite so familiar with.

However, it’s enlisted Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn to help it put the machines together, according to DigiTimes, and the machines are due on the market in the fourth quarter of the year. It’ll be interesting to see how Sony fairs against the constantly growing competition.
